Course Information
Athletes will start their Thanksgiving run just north of downtown Covington. From there, both 5K and 5 mile runners will make their way through downtown and into the splendor of moss-covered trees that line the streets. Close to St. Paul’s High School runners will head slightly west before turning north. From there, it’s a return trip for the finish line at the St. Tammany Courthouse!
5 Mile runners will finish their Turkey “tour” with a scenic jaunt further south past more beautiful homes before rejoining with the 5K course and heading north back to downtown.

The 1 Mile Fun Run will take participants around the downtown area and back to the finish line in front of the St. Tammany Parish Courthouse.

COURSE TIME LIMITS
There is a 90 minute course limit to complete the 5K race. This equates to a 29:00 min/mile pace, which is a comfortable walk. If you are unable to continue at this pace you will be helped into the SAG wagon and will be transported to the finish line. The roads MUST be opened on time and runners not meeting the expected pace will not be allowed to continue on their own.
There is a 90 minute course limit to complete the 5 Miler race. This equates to a 18:00 min/mile pace, which is jog/run. If you are unable to continue at this pace you will be helped into the SAG wagon and will be transported to the finish line. The roads MUST be opened on time and runners not meeting the expected pace will not be allowed to continue on their own. Any 5 Miler participant NOT past the turn onto South Louisiana Street at 8:26am will be directed onto the 5K course to finish their race.
The Tammany Turkey Trot 5K will feature mile markers at every mile and well-supported water stations.
